Why We Love Breakfast All Day

Breakfast

We’ve all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Although it was first coined by John Kellogg and James Jackson in the early part of the 20th century to help sell cereal, it was later realized that perhaps they were on to something. This “Cereal Revolution” was exacerbated by the discovery of vitamins, which could be added into any cereal to enhance its nutritional value. With women entering the workforce and having less time to prepare a traditional breakfast coupled with the idea that people wanted a lighter meal to start their day, the “Cereal Revolution” John Kellogg and James Jackson created was proving to be something that would last longer than a fad.

Breakfast: It’s Not Just for Breakfast Anymore

Decades later we learned that breakfast could be enjoyed any time of the day and not just limited to the morning hours. As the workplace began to grow outside the office doors and the hours of 9am-5pm, so did our breakfast options. The gig economy brought about unconventional work schedules and restaurants of all varieties wanted to cater to the cravings of its customers by giving them what they wanted: breakfast at all hours of the day. In fact, the success of the breakfast bandwagon has been one of the few segments of the restaurant industry that has seen steady growth over the last few years.

All Day Breakfast? Egg-cellent!

The pandemic has brought much change as it relates to people’s daily routines. We are connecting more virtually through video conferencing, working more from home, engaging more in new hobbies and eating more breakfast. Yes, you heard that right! We are eating more breakfast, not necessarily more as it relates to over-indulging, but eating more traditional breakfast items throughout the day. People realized that you could make a breakfast pizza for dinner or grab a breakfast burrito for lunch on the go. No longer were there rules around when you could eat ordinary breakfast foods and consumers could not be more ecstatic about it. We can finally have our eggs and eat them too!

At Mokas Cafe, You Can Have Breakfast All Day!
